July 28,2008

Then cut the plywood in half then took off 2 feet

1Marked the plywood with chalk line the dimensions I cannot give you but one clue is that I threw out the directions

Brooks cutting hole for steering box

This is our steering column I cannot give you our dimensions but I can tell you that it is custom

This is our steering column attached to the chassis.

This is our front view of the race car within the next month watch it start to transform into a derby car.

Luc in training for the Brisbane Derby.  Having the breakfast of champions at Noni's house, while I am sizing him up.

Just figured out we have a problem with the design of the derby car. SHOOOOT!!!!!!

This is the rear of the car before I attached the seat holes drilled for rear wheels.

This is the seat getting ready to get attached.

Brooks doing more sanding and a lot more to go.

This is a side view of the car after the seat was attached

This is a picture of our brake system.  At this stage with what you see the car weighs 47.5 pounds.

We got the front wheels on and steering all done.  This year we are going for a longer wheel base.  Why I don't know.  The car is just under 6 foot long and notice it only 26 more days until Brisbane Derby.

This is car after we painted the frame.  Hopefully we will start working on the body.  That is where all the work is.  The car at this stage is probably  2-3 hours of work.  Most of it sanding and rechecking all measurements.

This now body work allot of glue, screws, and straps.

Fixing the seam on the front end and shaping the nose of the Derby car.

Shape the front end.

Body coming into shape allot of water, spackle, bondo, and sanding.

More water, spackle, bondo and sanding.

Toggle switches for electrical.

Electronics in car for lighting effects and radio.

Brake system in Derby car.

Derby car primed and ready to get sanded again.

Come on down and look at are last year's model it is hanging up in the store.  We just got in a real soap box derby car that was loaned to us from a customer, thanks Joe.
